WEEK 6
Being aware of how little time is left on the project, this week I have been very focused on getting the zines done. I began with the cover design which I based on the cover I tried last week on the black riso with babies hanging from roots. I chose this as it represents my project in a very summarised way; the shape and how we all have them. On the rootless cover, I also made a few babies fall to show the disconnect from roots. I decided to have contrasting colours on both zines; roots being done in green and pink, rootless in blue and orange. I printed the first layers on Tuesday (blue and green) and the second ones on Friday.
I spent the whole of Wednesday and Thursday working on the first 8 pages of both zines. I used a lot of the prints I have made over the past 6 weeks, I drew a bunch and also took photographs to edit into a story about rootlessness.
On Friday I printed the first A3 colour layers (8 pages) for both zines. Over the weekend I will be making the second colour layers as well as finish the first colour layer of the second side.
BACK
I made this drawing based on a sculpture and originally thought of having it orange - blue but after looking at it long enough, I ended up liking the blue-only a lot better.

The backgrounds for both of the covers are different monoprint trials I've done over the weeks.
